Google Earth Assignment
This assignment helps me know how to use Google Earth to find information I need about the environment. This is an interesting and creative way to study using new technology today.
A. Sea Surface Temperature
1. The regions near the equator have the warmest sea surface temperature in December.
The equator is warmer because the sun is shining brightest on it; therefore the ocean near it is warm.
2. August is the month that has the warmest sea surface temperatures for the Northern Atlantic because it is the summer and land mass observes warmer-than-average temperatures in August.
B. Temperature Anomaly
1. Temperature anomaly means a departure from the long-term average temperature.
2. The North and South Poles are the areas of greatest anomalies because of global warming. The ice is melting and this makes the temperature rises a lot.
3. It can be used as a good tool to diagnose climate change and show the average global temperature compared to reference value.
C. Water Vapor
Water vapor condenses more on areas where the sea temperature is high. Because of high temperature, water evaporates more in those places.
It proves my hypothesis about surface ocean temperature is right.
