I learned a lot of new things about leadership from my honors class in Fall semester 2014. Being a honors student, leadership skills are really important to me in order to become a well-round student. Thanks to professor Barbara Rinto, I have a better understanding now of how to develop my leadership abilities and apply to the community I am in.
There were a lot of of activities in this class, and all of them were really interesting and informative. The course helped me explore the nature of leadership by discussing real examples of good leaders all around the world and even at University of Cincinnati. The class also spent time talking about leadership theory, styles, skills and historical and cultural references and then evaluate common beliefs about leaders and leadership. Because leadership at its essence is about working with others to make positive change, I also learnt about myself and learnt to appreciate differences. At the end of the class, I was able to identify my own strengths and learnt how to complement the strengths of others.
After taking Exploring Leadership, I am looking forward to use the information I learnt to expand my network and become a better leader in the future.
