The movie made a good impression on me about my position as a human on this planet. As a student majoring in business like me, the movie brought lots of new information about the environment in spite of the fact that the movie was released 7 years ago, making the data in it become a little bit outdated.
I love the way the director Davis Guggenheim weaves the science of global warming with the personal story of Mr. Gore to help the audience understand why he decided to choose this job, to protect the environment. In a charming and funny style, Gore presents all the facts and number under an emotional story of his own life. His way of presenting made this 100-minute movie never get boring and left me with a haunting message about what we need to do to protect our home planet. I strongly agree with what Gore’s idea in this commentary movie that although it is really hard to fight back global warming, people can do it by changing their usual way of life.
I also did a research on the impacts of the movie listed on the site takepart.com. One of it is “Five countries - England, Scotland, Czech Republic, New Zealand, and Germany - and the Canadian province of British Columbia incorporated An Inconvenient Truth into their secondary schools' curricula”. I did a finding about this and believe it is controversy information. Although I did found the fact that the film was placed into the science curriculum for fourth and sixth-grade students in Scotland and copies of the film were sent to all schools in England, Wales and Scotland, I also found an article about the movie being banned from British school because of having nine alleged errors. Another impact that caught my eyes is “President Obama created the new position of Assistant to the President for Climate and Energy.” Despite the fact that there is no direct connection between the movie and this decision of the President, I think this position is necessary in the government of the US in order to better serve environment protection.
